As a former multi-sport athlete, I cherish the lessons learned from my teammates, coaches, and competitors: perseverance, teamwork, setting and achieving big goals. I’m proud that my kids are finding their own way in sports and at the early stages of learning these skills.
In today's tech-driven world, sports offer timeless “no-tech” lessons in resilience & collaboration. They empower us to attempt hard things & believe in our ability to succeed. To this day, I do at least one hard thing in my personal life every year like run 35 miles in the Grand Canyon or learn Italian for a trip.
As a leader, I live this value by asking my team members to add a significant professional development accomplishment to their goals each year, like learning (and applying) a new coding language, finishing that MBA, or taking on a stretch assignment.
To all the young (and old) athletes: Keep dreaming big, working hard, & inspiring others! Together, let's rewrite the playbook for success!
